With heavy hearts, we said goodbye to our beloved Freckles, our freckled-face sweetheart, on July 29th, 2025, at the age of 14. Freckles was a Dalmatian and Labrador mix, pure white except for the spots on her nose and ears that inspired her name.

We rescued Freckles in August 2011 when I was just 10 years old, and she's been by my side for more than half my life. Through countless struggles and seasons of change, she was my constant source of comfort, joy, and unconditional love.

Freckles had a knack for finding adventure in even the simplest moments. She loved being outside — whether sunbathing in the yard, exploring ditches and muddy spots, or sprawling happily in the flower beds. No matter how white her fur started the day, she often came back looking grey from her "investigations." She enjoyed golf cart rides with grandma and grandpa, going for walks, and spending time with her favorite humans. She cherished every toy we gave her — except for anything that looked like a hedgehog, for reasons known only to her.

She had a way of knowing exactly when I needed her most, and would turn into her goofy, silly self until I was laughing again. She truly was my best friend.

Freckles will be deeply missed by her owner Kari and favorite humans Ruth, and Zach — along with so many others whose lives she touched. Though her paws no longer walk beside us, her love and the joy she brought will remain in our hearts forever.
