Obituary

Kong born 3/31/2014, departed peacefully on 6/17/2024 into doggie heaven to play around with his fellow German Shepherds and four-footed friends alike. He succumbed to his battle with severe hip dysplasia and complications, although that would never slow him down, even if the rear was lagging. Kong enjoyed his stuffed and squeaky toys, even if it was just to comfort him at bedtime as he would fall asleep with them in his mouth at times. He would never let another person, animal (especially bunnies and birds), or even plastic bag floating midair on his radar without sounding off protecting his domain. He was as loyal as they come, never leaving your side and always guilting you if you could not take him with you. He loved going for rides whether in the car or on a golf cart at camp. He was family, he ate what we ate, he went where we went, and he had the finer things in life like we had. Every day was some quirky moment that would make you laugh and shake your head. The 30min bathroom walks usually interrupted by a bird or bunny or a blade of grass he missed the time prior, at night always letting us know it is bedtime and pacing around until we came, bedtime snacks, attacking your food bowl only to put the kibble on the ground to eat it from, head tilts as if he knew what we were saying, our Hoover vacuum, our garbage disposal because God knows you loved your food, and so many more quirks.

We are going to miss you, old friend. We wanted to laugh some more, but all good things must come to an end. God knows I would have loved to share a few more. The miles traveled, sites seen, and the many more miles to come that will never be the same. When we met the first time was the day our friendship began, and the bond became inseparable. You were a huge part of my life; it revolved around you. I am going to miss you, old friend. The good times relived, I know you wouldn't want me to mourn, but it is so sad to think you are not around anymore. I'll try to live the best life until we meet up again. There is a huge hole in my heart. I know you are smiling down here on me, but isn't that what friendships and guardian angels are for? When we meet again in heaven, there is no doubt you will let this old man in. You were one of a kind and I am going to miss you, my friend.

You were as loyal and loving as they come, living up to a man's best friend title very much. We know you will be watching us as we continue this journey without you, and I am sure you will send us signs from above. There is not a day we wouldn't change except that you had to fight the battle that was given to you and very unfair. All the memories will continue to live on. Until we meet again, we love and miss you Kong-aroo!
