For 14 years you were more than just a pet. You were my Best Friend and a companion for Grandma and Pap when they needed it.

Somehow you even chose your name. Being a Havanese. The official dog of Cuba I thought the perfect name would be Carlos. On the way home I kept calling you Carlos and you never looked at me to acknowledge that would be the perfect name. We were at a stop sign. I looked up and saw the street sign MAX. Said Max aloud and you looked at me right away. So it was Max!

You had your favorite things. Playing ball with pap. Sitting with grandma. Peanut Butter everything. Hamburgers. Pork roasts that grandma would cook for you. People watching. Quietly taking in the world around you. Always ready for a ride or a walk. Not caring where just as long you were with us.

14 years was not enough. I miss you so much. Thank you for choosing me to be your Dad.
